There are now many examples of businesses putting sustainable principles at the core of their operations. For example, B&Q led the way in supporting the Forest Stewardship Council’s certification and labelling scheme, launched in 1993, by committing to move away from non-sustainable timber. Since then, B&Q has been chain-of-custody certification for both FSC and Programme for the (PEFC) schemes. In addition, B&Q has committed to removing all products containing illegal timber from the shelves of its stores in China.
We offer five more examples of how businesses are seeking to take the first steps towards putting sustainability into action.
